Role overview

The Accounting Clerk sits within the Corporate department on the Accounting team and reports directly to the Accounting Manager. In this position, you will support the processing of accounting entries and invoices, help manage a detailed financial system with multiple levels and subclasses, and contribute to consistent, accurate accounting practices. The role calls for comfort working in a complex accounting environment.

Key responsibilities

  • Handle accounts payable and/or accounts receivable tasks, including checking supplier invoices for correctness and proper approval before processing.
  • Reconcile transactions against purchase orders and other supporting records, while keeping all documentation stored electronically.
  • Prepare and issue electronic payments and checks, and track payment timelines to ensure disbursements go out on schedule.
  • Support the month-end closing activities for the accounting team.
  • Review supplier statements, investigate mismatches, and help resolve outstanding discrepancies.
  • Work with external vendors, customers, and internal teams to collect information needed for financial reporting.
  • Ensure reporting is completed accurately and on time, and that work remains aligned with applicable accounting standards.
  • Follow departmental compliance practices, uphold accounting best practices, and suggest process improvements where appropriate.
  • Help collect and organize information for annual audit activities.
  • Take on additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or an equivalent qualification.
  • At least 1 year of experience in accounting, finance, or a closely related role.
  • Strong planning and organization skills, with the ability to manage priorities and meet demanding deadlines in a busy setting.
  • Good analytical thinking and problem-solving ability.
  • Careful attention to detail, along with accurate record keeping.
  • Solid proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain issues clearly to people at different levels of management.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

Preferred qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Prior experience using ERP or accounting software, ideally Workday.
  • 2 or more years of experience in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Compensation

The advertised compensation range is USD 26.11 to USD 41.78.
