Role overview

This is an opportunity for a motivated, self-starting Account Manager / Mining Solutions Specialist to join a high-performing sales team in Mackay, Queensland. The role supports the BHP/BMA relationship and focuses on improving customer value, strengthening partnerships, and delivering better outcomes and solutions for the customer.

You will report to the NSAM - BHP and work alongside a colleague who manages the remaining BMA sites. Together, you will help service the full account. The position also involves close coordination with customer care, the quotes team, and broader BHP sales colleagues both locally and interstate. A key part of the role is being on the road, visiting sites and ensuring the contract with BHP is delivered to the required standard and beyond.

Key duties

  • Build, maintain, and expand important relationships across assigned BMA sites.
  • Use strategic planning and evidence-based analysis to uncover growth opportunities.
  • Improve customer satisfaction by protecting existing business and supporting account growth.
  • Ensure plans are in place to meet satisfaction targets and contractual commitments.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with team members in Mackay, Brisbane, and other locations.
  • Monitor the market and competitors, then report on trends and customer activity.
  • Plan and execute actions aligned to anticipated customer requirements.

What you need to bring

Applicants should have at least 3 years of B2B account management and/or business development experience, ideally in sectors such as manufacturing, mining, heavy equipment, or other industrial environments. Strong relationship management skills and established local connections are important.

You should be confident meeting customers in person and committed to delivering practical solutions. The role suits someone who is proactive, highly motivated, and focused on exceeding expectations. You must also be able to solve problems effectively, work independently, and collaborate across different teams when needed.

Experience with industrial, safety, and apparel products will be looked on favourably. Strong communication skills, a team-oriented mindset, and solid proficiency with MS Office and CRM systems are also required.
