Job description

Role Overview

This position is based at Banana Island Resort Doha by Anantara in Doha, Qatar. The employer is Minor Hotels, an international hospitality owner, operator, and investor with more than 530 properties across 50+ countries in Asia Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, the Indian Ocean, Europe, and South America, operating brands such as Anantara, Avani, Elewana, Oaks, NH Hotels, NH Collection, nhow, and TIVOLI.

What You’ll Do

  • Support the skipper in day-to-day vessel operations and carry out assigned tasks.
  • Maintain a lookout from the wheelhouse alongside the skipper on every trip in line with collision regulations.
  • Take part in emergency response activities and routine drills.
  • Follow assigned duties during any onboard emergency situation.
  • Escalate unsafe practices or conditions to the skipper without delay.
  • Carry out cleaning duties and help keep the vessel prepared for passengers at all times.
  • Check that sufficient cleaning supplies are available onboard.
  • Clean the boat outside after every trip and give it a full wash at the end of each shift.
  • Keep all luggage storage areas neat and clean.
  • Prepare the passenger manifest before departure and ensure the skipper is briefed.
  • Hand over any lost-and-found items to the skipper for safekeeping.
  • Provide a clear shift handover to the next team member, including any issues faced during the shift.
  • Maintain high standards of personal hygiene.
  • Wear and care for the uniform properly so it remains in excellent condition.
  • Support safe berthing and unberthing operations, including line handling.

Requirements

  • Must hold a valid AB Seaman certification.
  • Valid CDC with AB (II/4) qualification is required.
  • Valid STCW certification is required.
  • Must have a valid medical fitness report confirming ability to work at sea.
  • Prior experience as an AB Seaman is expected, ideally in hospitality or marine tourism.
  • Should understand basic vessel navigation and seamanship.
  • Strong teamwork and communication abilities are needed.
  • Must be familiar with safety procedures and emergency response practices.
  • Needs the physical ability to handle demanding work in changing weather conditions.
