UX Designer, Contractor

Role overview

PointClickCare is hiring a UX Designer for a 6-month contract opportunity in Canada. This is a remote position, though occasional travel to the Mississauga and/or Salt Lake City office may be required for in-person activities such as onboarding, team gatherings, and semi-annual or annual meetings.

The position is suited to someone who wants to improve the usability of software that supports real-world care decisions. You should bring strong visual design instincts, empathy for users, analytical thinking, and the ability to perform well in a complex, fast-paced setting.

Team and collaboration

You will report to the Director of User Experience and work closely with product and engineering teams. The role also involves building strong relationships with users, representatives, customer success teams, and other stakeholders to ensure the platform reflects genuine user needs.

Key responsibilities

• Run user research activities and evaluate designs through testing.
• Build mockups that communicate product behavior and design direction.
• Develop and refine user personas and journey maps.
• Promote established UX best practices across the product experience.

Required background and skills

• A college or university degree in UX Design, Information Technology, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communications, or a closely related area, or equivalent practical experience.
• Advanced professional experience in UX design.
• Hands-on experience with prototyping and design tools such as Figma, DoveTail, Adobe tools, and Protopie.
• Excellent visual design judgment, with a strong focus on interface quality.
• High attention to detail.
• Experience collecting and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data.
• Experience working within agile teams and workflows.
• Knowledge of both established and emerging design practices.
• Ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine interest in supporting others and building relationships.
• Creative and analytical thinking ability.
• Working knowledge of HTML and CSS to support discussions with engineers is helpful, though coding is not part of the role.
• Experience with usability testing tools and analytics platforms.

Compensation and terms

The hourly pay rate for this contract is CAD 39.98 to CAD 44.42.

For remote roles, the company may still require travel to office locations for selected in-person events, including onboarding and team meetings.
