Role overview

This permanent full-time position is based on more than 65 hours per fortnight. The roster can include morning, afternoon, sleepover, and weekend shifts. The pay rate ranges from $24.68 to $30.13 per hour, depending on relevant qualifications.

About the role

In this role, you will support people with intellectual disabilities to live meaningful, active lives at home and in their local community. The job calls for creativity, compassion, and a genuine desire to make each day enjoyable and valuable for the people you assist.

What you will do

• Support people to build everyday independence, including skills such as taking public transport and preparing meals.
• Help with personal care and daily routines, including showering, dressing, and taking medication.
• Encourage people to spend time on their interests, hobbies, and personal goals.
• Assist with healthy habits and overall wellbeing.
• Help strengthen relationships with whānau and the wider community.

What you need to bring

No previous experience in the health and disability sector is required. A positive attitude, a strong interest in becoming a Support Worker, and willingness to learn are important. Full training and induction will be provided.

• Availability for flexible shifts, including weekends and sleepover duties.
• Confidence using computers and tablets every day.
• Good written and spoken communication skills.
• Physical capability to provide hands-on support when needed.
• A full New Zealand driver licence is required.
