Role overview

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for organizing and coordinating the movement of goods, inventory, and resources so that demand is met efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Create demand projections using past sales data, market patterns, and input from the business.
• Watch inventory levels closely to prevent shortages or excess stock.
• Align production schedules with demand forecasts and inventory requirements.
• Coordinate with suppliers to secure timely delivery of raw materials and parts.
• Work with logistics teams to improve the movement of goods across the supply chain.
• Measure supply chain performance using indicators such as service levels and inventory turnover, then identify improvement opportunities.
• Spot possible disruptions and prepare backup plans to reduce impact.
• Partner with procurement, sales, marketing, and operations teams to keep activities aligned with business goals.
• Use planning and supply chain systems such as SAP, Oracle, and similar tools to improve workflows and test scenarios.
• Lead ongoing improvement efforts to increase efficiency, lower costs, and strengthen customer satisfaction.

Working conditions

• Frequent hand movement is needed for computers, printers, and copiers.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to work with data analysis tools such as Excel with advanced functions, Power BI, or Tableau.
• Experience using ERP platforms and forecasting tools.
• Understanding of supply chain methods including MRP, DRP, and S&OP.
• APICS CSCP or CPIM certification is preferred but not mandatory.

Essential functions

• Build and maintain demand forecasts that match supply with business requirements.
• Optimize inventory to support service goals while controlling costs.
• Plan production schedules to support on-time delivery.
• Coordinate with suppliers and logistics teams to keep materials and finished goods moving smoothly.
• Monitor supply chain metrics and resolve issues through analysis and action.

• Capability in demand planning, inventory management, and production scheduling.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional work.

• Comfort with supply chain software such as SAP, Oracle, JDA, and analytical tools like Excel and Power BI.

Supervisory responsibility

This position does not include supervisory duties.

Physical demands

The role requires regular talking and listening. Vision needs include close, distant, peripheral, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work schedule and travel

This is a full-time salaried role. Travel may be required up to 20% of the time.

Education and experience

A bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, Operations Management, or a closely related area is preferred. A master’s degree or MBA is also preferred, though not always required. The ideal candidate has 2 to 5 years of experience in supply chain planning, inventory management, logistics, or a related function, along with a proven history of using supply chain planning software.
