Role Summary
The Second-in-Command (SIC) Pilot supports the Pilot-in-Command in conducting aircraft operations safely and efficiently. The position includes flight planning support, systems monitoring, radio communication with air traffic control, and adherence to all applicable aviation rules and company procedures. The role demands alertness, sound judgment, and close coordination with the flight crew to handle changing conditions and urgent situations. The objective is to help every mission run safely, smoothly, and on time while upholding the company’s standards for safety and service.
Minimum Qualifications
- A current FAA Commercial Pilot Certificate or ATP Pilot Certificate.
- An active FAA First Class or Second Class Medical Certificate.
- At least 500 hours of rotorcraft/helicopter flight experience.
- Solid understanding of Federal Aviation Regulations and standard operating procedures.
- Proven ability to function effectively in a multi-crew flight environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Background flying in varied weather conditions and complex airspace.
- Prior experience serving as PIC or SIC in UH-60 aircraft.
- Comfort using advanced avionics equipment.
- Additional language abilities are an advantage for international work.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside the PIC through every stage of flight, including planning, departure, cruise, and arrival.
- Keep watch on aircraft instruments and systems to identify unusual behavior or technical issues early.
- Coordinate with air traffic control and ground teams to support safe routing and regulatory compliance.
- Complete required checklists and operating procedures to uphold safety and efficiency.
- Join crew briefings and post-flight reviews to discuss flight details, weather, and operational issues.
- Assist with emergency response procedures and operational decisions when directed by the Captain.
- Record flight activity and maintain logs and paperwork as required by company rules and aviation regulations.
Compensation
Pay is dependent on experience.
