Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the Role

Clemcorp is a major provider of underground ventilation equipment, with fans installed in more than 30 countries. For more than three decades, the company has supported mining businesses with ventilation solutions across Australia and overseas. Its headquarters, engineering team, and manufacturing operations are based in Landsdale, Western Australia. The 20,000 square metre facility is the country’s largest dedicated plant for fan design and assembly, with capabilities spanning high-efficiency axial, centrifugal, and mixed-flow fans, ventilation control systems, and flexible ventilation ducting.

The Senior Design Engineer position is a senior technical leadership role within the Engineering Department. The successful person will act as an engineering authority, help set governance, and guide design work through mentoring and technical oversight.

This role focuses on controlling engineering risk, signing off on complex design work, and making sure engineering standards are applied consistently across products and projects.

Core Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical direction and approve design work.
• Carry out advanced engineering assessments and manage technical risk.
• Build, improve, and oversee engineering standards and practices.
• Support the growth of engineers and graduates through coaching and mentorship.
• Work closely with production, technical services, and management teams.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant will hold an engineering degree, preferably with additional postgraduate study or certificate-level coursework. A minimum of 10 years of mechanical design experience is required, along with strong leadership and mentoring ability. Experience in heavy engineering, mining, or rotating equipment will be highly valuable.

Preferred Technical Experience

• Proficiency in PTC Creo for 3D modelling, assemblies, and detailed production drawings.
• Working knowledge of Windchill for document control, revision handling, and product data management processes.
• Experience with Ansys for finite element analysis, CFD, and design verification.
• Background in rotating equipment such as fans, impellers, shafts, bearings, or vibration-focused design work.
