Role summary
This position owns the planning function for raw materials and packing materials. The role is accountable for ensuring material availability, maintaining healthy inventory levels, and supporting operational goals through structured planning and continuous improvement. It also involves creating and implementing approaches that strengthen material management and inventory control.
Responsibilities
- Lead the raw material planning team and ensure material is available in line with demand.
- Manage planning and inventory for all raw materials and packing materials across all sites.
- Review the production plan, calculate the required material quantities, and arrange supplies accordingly.
- Prepare and coordinate PRNs for API-related materials.
- Share material schedules according to demand requirements.
- Act as the main contact for production teams on material-related concerns, including QC approvals.
- Drive harmonized raw material planning practices across different units.
- Set, monitor, and report on planning KPIs to QC and Purchase teams.
- Create monthly MIS reports and analytics for review meetings.
- Support the Head of Supply Chain with inventory and material-management analysis.
- Work to keep raw material and packing material inventory at target levels.
- Partner with QC and procurement teams to maintain material quality.
- Identify and implement better inventory optimization methods.
- Monitor production metrics to anticipate future material needs.
- Assist development projects by ensuring material availability for new product development.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Pharmacy, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
- Master’s degree in Operations, Supply Chain, or Materials Management is preferred.
- Professional certifications such as APICS CPIM/CSCP or similar credentials are an advantage.
- 8 to 12 years of experience in material planning, supply chain, or inventory management.
- Background in pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or manufacturing is strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience managing raw material and packing material planning across multiple locations.
- Strong working knowledge of ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle, along with advanced Excel and analytics tools.
- Proven ability to lead teams and collaborate effectively across production, QC, and procurement functions.
- Experience in inventory optimization, demand planning, and KPI monitoring.
- Exposure to API or raw material planning and regulatory settings will be beneficial.
