Role overview

Cliffside Cybersecurity is hiring its first dedicated sales leader in Sydney. This is a hands-on growth role with a clear route to Head of Sales. You will own your own new-logo target, help shape the sales motion around you, and work directly with the CEO. The role is about building a sales function from the ground up while also carrying a quota yourself.

About the company

Cliffside Cybersecurity is a Sydney-based cybersecurity consultancy and managed services provider established in 2014 and certified to ISO 27001. The business focuses on the quality of delivery, efficiency, and trusted outcomes rather than size or headcount. It wins competitive work with large enterprise, regulated, and government clients, often based on honesty and reputation. The company also develops its own product, Cybereen, a security-by-design compliance platform, and works with technology partners such as Microsoft, Fortinet, and Vanta. Its sales approach is grounded in accurate assessment and transparent recommendations, even when that means walking away from revenue.

What you will do

This position combines selling with building sales infrastructure. From the first day, you are expected to contribute as a salesperson and as a sales leader.

  • Drive your own new-business quota by identifying, qualifying, and closing mid-market and enterprise opportunities across consulting, managed services, the Cybereen platform, and partner-led offerings.
  • Develop durable relationships with new and existing clients; this relationship-building is central to success in the role.
  • Represent the company in a credible, expert-led way in the market, with a practical and evidence-based style.
  • Create and manage the sales process, including pipeline stages, qualification standards, forecasting, and weekly pipeline reviews.
  • Track targets, measure performance, and report results directly to the CEO.
  • Guide and develop the current Business Development Manager and assist with hiring and onboarding future sales hires.

Ways of working

The team uses automation and AI to reduce manual work and improve reporting and proposal quality. These tools are meant to support efficiency, not replace judgement, relationship-building, or the responsibility to protect security, privacy, and quality.

Progression

This role has a defined path to Head of Sales. Advancement will be based on achieved milestones rather than time served. The expected milestones include reliable quota attainment, a functioning and measurable pipeline, a sales team performing to target, and forecasting that the CEO can depend on. The exact promotion criteria will be agreed during the first quarter.

Candidate profile

The company is looking for someone with a strong record of commercial delivery and a practical, numbers-driven approach to sales.

  • A clear history of meeting and exceeding quota, supported by concrete figures such as quota, achievement, deal size, and sales cycle length.
  • Experience closing B2B deals in cybersecurity, IT, or managed services for Australian enterprise or government clients.
  • Confidence selling to senior stakeholders, including operational leaders and C-level decision-makers such as CISOs, CIOs, and CFOs.
  • Experience building or significantly improving sales processes, forecasting, metrics, and sales discipline.
  • Capability to manage or coach at least one salesperson, plus the ambition to lead a full sales department.
  • Strong ethical judgement and the ability to sell with honesty rather than overpromising.

Nice-to-have experience

Exposure to ISO 27001, Essential Eight, APRA CPS 234, NIST CSF, or the purchasing cycles of regulated organisations will be an advantage.

Compensation and benefits

  • Base salary of $100,000 to $120,000, plus superannuation, depending on seniority and experience.
  • Uncapped commission on new business, with the commission structure shared at offer stage.
  • Direct access to the CEO and genuine influence over the sales strategy and execution.
  • A clear advancement path to Head of Sales in a business where performance is visible and rewarded.

How to apply

Applicants should send a CV and a short note describing one deal they are proud of, including the numbers, and one deal they lost, along with what they learned from it. The note will be reviewed before the CV.
