Role overview
An opening is available for a Monogastric Research Scientist to join an expanding innovation group in Tralee, County Kerry. The position focuses on research into swine and poultry nutrition, digestion, nutrient uptake, and immune function. You will plan and run both lab-based and in vivo studies, evaluate scientific findings, and help advance and validate new products.
The role also includes opportunities to prepare research for publication, share findings at scientific meetings, and partner with teams from different disciplines on commercially driven projects.
Key responsibilities
- Create and refine laboratory models centred on digestion, nutrient absorption, and immune response.
- Set up and carry out in vivo trials within swine and poultry production environments.
- Process experimental results and draw conclusions using suitable statistical techniques.
- Write technical documentation, research papers, and conference materials.
- Work with innovation and product teams across functions to support development work.
- Look after lab equipment and help uphold health and safety requirements.
- Offer support, direction, and training to colleagues when needed.
Candidate profile
- A PhD in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Biochemistry, Immunology, or a closely related scientific field.
- Proven ability to design and execute laboratory experiments and animal trials.
- Practical experience using ELISA and RT-PCR methods.
- Understanding of monogastric nutrition, especially in swine and poultry systems.
- Strong capability in scientific writing and oral presentation.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach to teamwork.
