About the role
An automotive manufacturing and electronics components company in Sriperumbudur, Chennai is hiring a Quality Engineer / Senior Quality Engineer to strengthen its quality assurance function across customer, supplier, and process quality. The role spans 3 to 7 years of experience and sits within Quality Assurance, Customer Quality, and Supplier Quality.
Key responsibilities
- Take ownership of quality assurance work for automotive electronic and mechanical products.
- Handle customer complaints, warranty-related concerns, and investigations into field failures.
- Run structured 8D problem-solving efforts and ensure corrective and preventive actions are closed effectively.
- Coordinate APQP, PPAP sign-offs, process validation, and quality planning for new product introductions.
- Carry out supplier audits, process audits, and capability reviews.
- Track and improve quality measures such as PPM, COPQ, customer complaint trends, and supplier performance.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Purchase, R&D, and Supplier Development teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives through Lean Manufacturing methods and quality tools.
- Ensure adherence to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, customer-specific requirements, and internal quality systems.
- Assist in management reviews, customer interactions, and external certification audits.
- Build and refine quality systems, inspection criteria, and process control approaches.
- Guide and support junior quality engineers and inspectors.
Required skills and knowledge
- Practical understanding of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans, and 8D methodology.
- Experience in customer quality, process quality, supplier quality, or broader quality assurance functions.
- Exposure to automotive electronics, PCB assembly, SMT operations, injection molding, die casting, machining, and final assembly.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, process capability studies, and statistical analysis.
- Familiarity with IATF 16949, VDA expectations, and customer-specific requirements.
- Strong communication, leadership, and cross-functional coordination abilities.
- Comfort using MS Excel, PowerPoint, and ERP tools such as SAP.
Preferred background
- A B.E. or B.Tech degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Production, or a closely related field.
- Previous experience with Automotive Tier-1 organizations.
- Internal auditor certification for IATF 16949 or VDA is an advantage.

Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Tech / B.E. degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Production and Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics and Computer Engineering, Robotics and Automation Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, or Electronics.
