Role Summary
This position is for a QA mechanical inspector based in Leixlip, County Kildare. The role supports the delivery of a zero-defect, zero-rework project, with an emphasis on achieving no snags at the point when a foreman declares a system, or part of a system, complete. The inspector is expected to contribute to departmental objectives in a planned and controlled way.
Key Duties
- Support the creation of project-specific work procedures.
- Help prepare project-specific inspection and test plans.
- Run quality induction workshops to improve awareness of the project requirements.
- Carry out and document surveillance and in-progress checks on mechanical installations.
- Perform interim line walks to confirm installation work matches the relevant specification.
- Verify that the correct point of contact is identified, current drawings are available, supports are installed as construction advances, and labelling is accurate.
- Check that welding inspections are completed when needed.
- Confirm that equipment is installed in line with the P&ID, including high-point vents, low-point drains, bolt and gasket selection, and pipe shields where required.
- Assist with final inspections alongside construction supervisors.
- Take part in system handover walks with the client.
- Help gather documentation for construction handover dossiers, including QCC dossiers.
- Follow the inspection frequency defined in the relevant ITPs.
- Prepare internal quality reports for Mercury Engineering.

- A relevant third-level or professional qualification.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills.
- Good planning and organisational ability.
- High standards of personal and professional ethics, including trustworthiness, commitment, and empathy.
- A confident, creative, and proactive approach to resolving quality issues.
- Ability to produce clear written quality reports.
- Competence with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
