仕事内容

Role overview

This position is for an experienced Plant Operative to join the team at the Wednesbury Hazardous Waste Treatment Plant. The role involves working 45 hours each week on rotating shifts, typically 07:00 to 16:00 and 09:00 to 18:00, Monday to Friday. On occasion, some flexibility around start and finish times may be needed, and weekend working may also be required.

What you will do

You will support the day-to-day movement and management of waste at the treatment plant, covering reception, handling, storage, treatment, and processing of both incoming and outgoing waste streams. A key part of the job is making sure all waste is dealt with correctly and in line with Health, Safety, and Environmental standards at all times.

Training and experience

Full training will be provided across all stages of the process. Previous experience in the waste sector would be an advantage, along with any background in supervision, first aid, fire marshal duties, or knowledge of mobile and/or static plant maintenance.

Manual and site duties

The role also includes practical hands-on work such as sweeping and cleaning spilled material, sorting, weighing, repacking packaged goods, and carrying out general housekeeping around the site.

Desirable qualifications

Additional useful experience includes holding a Counterbalance FLT licence, a Telehandler licence, and having a good understanding of the demands of working in a fast-paced hazardous waste processing setting.

About the employer

The organisation is focused on improving how people think about waste by converting it into sustainable energy, supporting recycling, and keeping waste out of public spaces. The wider team includes more than 11,000 people across the country, and the culture is built around rewarding work, challenge, and variety.

Values

The workplace places importance on diversity and equality, and values different ideas, perspectives, and backgrounds as part of building an effective and creative working environment.
