Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance for Equipment

Job Overview

This role focuses on keeping pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment dependable, safe, and aligned with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards. The Mechanical Engineer will handle maintenance planning, fault resolution, and ongoing improvement work for production assets used in solid, liquid, and semi-solid dosage manufacturing.

Core Responsibilities

• Carry out planned, corrective, and emergency maintenance across pharmaceutical production machinery.
• Service and diagnose issues in tablet manufacturing lines for solid dosage production.
• Support maintenance and troubleshooting of liquid processing systems used for syrups and suspensions.
• Maintain and repair equipment used for cream and ointment production in semi-solid dosage operations.
• Investigate equipment failures using root cause analysis and put corrective and preventive actions in place.
• Assist in equipment qualification work, including IQ, OQ, and PQ activities.
• Ensure all work follows GMP, SOP, and site safety requirements.
• Draft, update, and review maintenance procedures and related technical records.
• Work closely with Production, QA, and Engineering teams to plan maintenance windows and shutdowns.
• Track spare-parts availability and raise procurement requests when stock needs replenishment.
• Take part in internal and external audits and respond to maintenance findings or observations.
• Drive improvement projects aimed at boosting machine reliability and reducing downtime.

Qualifications and Experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in maintenance within pharmaceutical manufacturing is expected.
• Strong familiarity with GMP and pharmaceutical regulatory expectations is necessary.
• Practical experience with oral solid dosage (OSD) equipment is important.
