Role Overview
The Material Planner will be responsible for ensuring materials are planned, tracked, and available in line with production needs. This role requires close coordination with multiple internal teams and external suppliers to keep inventory healthy, prevent shortages, and support smooth manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities
- Create and track material plans based on production schedules and demand needs.
- Work closely with suppliers, purchasing, stores, production, and customer service teams to make sure materials are available on time.
- Keep stock at appropriate levels while reducing shortages, surplus inventory, and obsolete items.
- Follow up on supplier shipments and address any supply-related issues affecting material availability.
- Maintain correct MRP/ERP records and assist with inventory checks and audits.
- Review material consumption, inventory movement, and supplier performance to identify trends and improvements.
- Prepare reports related to inventory and procurement activities.
- Partner with internal teams and suppliers to strengthen supply chain continuity and efficiency.
Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Inventory Management, or a related field.
- Prior experience in material planning, inventory control, purchasing, or supply chain work in a manufacturing setting.
- Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management processes.
- Strong ability in analysis, planning, and problem-solving.
- Good communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholders effectively.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience in printing, packaging, electronics, or manufacturing environments will be considered an advantage.
- Detail-focused and highly organized.
- Able to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong coordination and interpersonal skills.
- Mindset geared toward continuous improvement.
