Its culture is built around the values of caring for one another, generating and sharing ideas, and building genuine relationships every day.

The workplace is designed to be inclusive and welcomes people from all backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disability, culturally and linguistically diverse communities, LGBTQIA+ people, and applicants of all ages and life experiences. If you are excited by the role but do not meet every requirement, you are still encouraged to apply.

What the role involves

In this permanent Maintenance Handyperson position, you will support tenants by completing responsive minor repairs and maintenance in residential properties. The role is centered on delivering prompt, high-quality service, working closely with other handypersons to keep repairs efficient and cost-effective.

The position is mainly based in the Metro North East area, including suburbs in the Lower North Shore, although you may occasionally be asked to work at other locations as needed.

Key duties

  • Contribute to the shared goal of delivering safe, sustainable and affordable housing that helps customers build connected communities.
  • Handle tenant questions and maintenance requests with a caring, responsive and professional approach.
  • Visit social housing properties to assess the repair work required and identify the right materials for the job.
  • Coordinate with Tenancy Managers to arrange timely access to properties for repair and maintenance work.
  • Work with the handyperson team on small projects and cooperate with other teams to improve tenant outcomes.
  • Record tenancy-related and other relevant information accurately.
  • Follow safe work practices carefully and help maintain safety standards for yourself and others.
  • Use standard office tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel.

What the employer offers

The package includes a 35-hour work week, pay above award rates, and 17% annual leave loading. You will also receive a company van and equipment, access to salary packaging benefits of up to $15,900 tax-free plus an additional $2,500 for meals, entertainment and accommodation, and novated leasing options.

Other benefits include career development opportunities through internal progression, in-house learning, study assistance, health and wellbeing discounts through Flare, a rewards and recognition program, and access to a free 24/7 Employee Assistance Program for you and your family. The role also comes with 12 weeks of paid parental leave, 3 bonus days of annual leave, and agile work practices that may include work-from-home options and modern offices near public transport.

Shortlisting and recruitment may involve interviews and relevant skills or behavioural assessments. Hiring decisions will be based on merit against the role criteria. Any offer will depend on pre-employment checks, including proof of working rights, employment references from previous managers, a National Police Check and a health assessment.
