Lead Portfolio Manager

Role overview

This role is for a Lead Portfolio Manager who will join the Portfolio Management Department (PMD) and relocate permanently to Saudi Arabia under an expatriate package. The PMD acts as the central owner and capital steward for diversification investments and joint ventures. In this position, you will serve as the appointed shareholder representative for allocated portfolio companies, focusing on value creation after investment, governance oversight, stronger capital efficiency, and accountability for results.

Key responsibilities

• Track portfolio company results continuously and compare them with the original investment thesis.
• Spot risks that indicate the investment thesis is weakening and suggest strategic adjustments when needed.
• Bring a shareholder-level view to long-term strategic positioning.
• Design and roll out structured value creation plans after an investment closes.
• Set clear financial and operating targets such as EBITDA growth, ROACE improvement, cash generation, and working capital efficiency.
• Follow through on implementation quality and measure the value actually captured.
• Lead recurring reviews of value realization.
• Assess reinvestment proposals and capital allocation choices at the portfolio company level.
• Review liquidity position, leverage levels, covenant adherence, and refinancing exposure.
• Evaluate capital efficiency against WACC and expected shareholder returns.
• Recommend actions to improve capital structure.
• Review governance quality, including Board and sub-committee setup.
• Provide Aramco-nominated Directors with analytical briefings and recommendations before meetings.
• Maintain transparent reporting and alignment with governance standards.
• Encourage disciplined decision-making at the Board level.
• Build and standardize KPI dashboards across the assigned portfolio companies.
• Track deviations from approved budgets and long-range plans.
• Detect new operational and financial risks early.
• Recommend structured corrective measures and escalate significant risks to the CIO when needed.
• Monitor industry, competitive, and macroeconomic trends.
• Convert market developments into implications at the shareholder level.
• Identify opportunities for growth, consolidation, or restructuring across the portfolio.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Engineering, or a related field from an accredited university is required; an advanced degree is preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in private equity, sovereign wealth funds, direct industrial investments, consulting roles involving value creation or turnaround plans, or investment banking focused on restructuring or industrial sector coverage.
• Exposure to the Middle East or broader emerging markets is considered an advantage.
• Willingness and ability to relocate fully to Saudi Arabia as an expatriate.

Relocation and employment terms

This is a permanent full-time position with a full relocation requirement to Saudi Arabia and an expatriate relocation package.
