Landscape Inspector (O&M)

Role overview

Parsons is seeking a skilled Landscape Inspector for its Operations & Maintenance team in Abu Dhabi. The position focuses on checking site conditions to confirm they are suitable for the planned landscape works and offering practical guidance on construction-related matters.

Key responsibilities

• Verify that softscape and hardscape construction activities follow the approved plans and specifications.
• Keep a daily log of activities, site issues, approved or rejected work, operating hours, manpower, equipment usage, and other relevant details, and sign it at the end of each day.
• Coordinate with nearby residents and business owners to help reduce the impact of construction activities.
• Work daily with the Contractor’s foreman to confirm that the work is being executed correctly.
• Coordinate with the Materials Technician to arrange sampling, testing of completed work, and quality checks for materials that appear questionable.
• Escalate any improper methods used by the Contractor to the Resident Engineer.
• Inform the Resident Engineer whenever the Contractor fails to meet the drawings, specifications, or workmanship standards.
• Handle joint measurement forms and keep their records updated.
• Preserve records of finished works for interim and final payments, as well as as-built drawings.
• Track and document contractor work carried out on a day works basis.
• Note any contractor activity that could result in claims and keep appropriate documentation.
• Remain objective and firm in dealings with the Contractor, weighing alternatives and consequences before deciding.
• Provide instructions to the Foreman responsible for the work and avoid disputes with the Contractor or representatives.
• Alert the Resident Engineer when site conditions make specification enforcement impractical or unreasonable.
• Immediately report and document any site accident and notify the Resident Engineer without delay.
• Ensure that work is carried out in line with the approved Safety Plan.
• Carry out any other duties reasonably related to the role.

Required qualifications and experience

• A bachelor’s degree in Landscape Engineering, Agriculture Engineering, or a comparable field is required.
• An equivalency certificate from the UAE Ministry of Education is mandatory.
• At least 4 years of proven experience in landscaping and irrigation for operations and maintenance of public realm projects is needed.
• The ability to read working drawings and specifications and enforce them effectively is essential.
• Prior experience on an Abu Dhabi Municipality project is preferred.

• Strong computer literacy, including using technology to manage records and produce reports.
• Good written and spoken communication skills, along with strong interpersonal abilities.
• Comfortable working collaboratively with project teams.
• ADM approval as a Landscape Inspector is an added advantage.
