Role overview
Dynacare is hiring a Specimen Processing Laboratory Assistant in Brampton, Ontario. This position plays an important part in the laboratory workflow by supporting accurate specimen handling and data entry so that downstream testing and care decisions can happen on time.

Employment details
- Contract duration: 12 months
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, with a rotating Saturday or Sunday shift
- Shift timing: 5:00 PM to 1:00 AM
- Number of openings: 1
- Start: ASAP

Key responsibilities
The lab assistant will handle specimen processing tasks, support requisition and results entry, and help maintain quality standards throughout the lab process.
This role also involves dealing with client questions and issues in a professional, respectful manner and completing additional assigned duties as needed.
Working conditions

- Heavy computer use is part of the job
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds when required
- Work may involve exposure to biohazardous materials, temperature changes, and varying noise levels

Requirements
- Secondary school education plus completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program
- Prior experience delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and collaborate in a team-based, high-volume setting with tight timelines
- Intermediate proficiency in MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, and Excel
- Working knowledge of laboratory procedures and the ability to use that knowledge to troubleshoot issues and suggest solutions
- Preferred: familiarity with AS400 data entry systems or LIS
