Kitchen Steward

About the role

IHG Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Kitchen Steward for Crowne Plaza Adelaide in Adelaide, South Australia. In this hands-on kitchen support role, you will help the culinary team keep back-of-house operations running smoothly and maintain the high standards expected in the kitchen.

What you'll do

• Keep kitchen work surfaces, walls, cooking equipment, sinks, grills, ovens and stoves clean and sanitised.
• Look after storage areas for chilled and frozen goods, making sure they stay orderly and hygienic.
• Accept incoming kitchen deliveries and arrange items appropriately.
• Assist chefs and kitchen colleagues with simple preparation tasks such as washing, peeling and cutting ingredients.
• Clear waste from the kitchen and wash dishes and other used items.

What we're looking for

The ideal candidate is energetic, friendly and confident, with a genuine interest in delivering excellent service. You should communicate well, bring a positive attitude, and be ready to learn. Previous hotel experience is helpful, and you should be comfortable working in a team and meeting deadlines. Because the work is physically active, you must be careful with manual handling and be prepared for standing for long periods, occasional lifting, pushing or pulling of heavy items, and some bending or kneeling. A strong focus on cleanliness, safety and flexibility is essential, as the roster includes nights, weekends and public holidays. You must also hold a Food Safety Certificate and be legally allowed to work in Australia without restrictions.
