About the Organization
Black Donors Save Lives (BDSL) is a Canadian federal nonprofit focused on closing racial gaps in blood, stem cell, organ, and tissue donor participation. Its work centers on improving health outcomes for African, Caribbean, and Black communities by expanding awareness, access, and engagement in donation initiatives. The organization partners with healthcare organizations, community groups, and advocates to challenge structural barriers and build more equitable donor representation. BDSL also provides mission-aligned volunteer opportunities for people who want to support measurable progress in health equity through practical, data-driven work.
Role Overview
The Impact Reporting Coordinator is a remote volunteer position responsible for gathering, organizing, analyzing, and presenting data that reflects BDSL’s progress and outcomes. The role involves working with program data related to donor outreach, engagement, and community impact, with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and accessibility. The coordinator will create impact reports, dashboards, and executive summaries for internal teams, leadership, partners, and funders, turning detailed information into easy-to-understand narratives and visuals.
What You Will Do
- Collect, review, and analyze data from multiple sources connected to outreach, engagement, and impact measurement.
- Prepare recurring impact reports, dashboards, and concise summaries for different audiences.
- Convert complex findings into clear written updates and visual presentations.
- Maintain reporting templates and help keep reporting processes organized and consistent.
- Support grant-related reporting and board-level reporting materials.
- Contribute to improving the organization’s measurement and evaluation methods.
- Work with program and communications team members to keep stories, metrics, and reporting aligned.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical ability with comfort interpreting both numerical and narrative data.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information in a simple and professional way.
- Basic understanding of finance and accounting concepts used in nonprofit budgeting and resource tracking.
- Experience or exposure to financial reporting for grants, donors, or board materials.
- Working knowledge of spreadsheets, data visualization tools, or reporting software.
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting, stay organized, and meet deadlines consistently.
- Interest in health equity, donor diversity, or community impact; nonprofit experience is helpful but not mandatory.
- Training or education in business, finance, public health, data analysis, or a related discipline is an advantage.
