Role overview
Stantec is seeking a driven Hydrologist to join its expanding water and environment team in Castlebar, County Mayo. The position offers the chance to work on a varied portfolio of infrastructure, water, and development work, while building expertise in a collaborative multidisciplinary setting.

What you will do
You will contribute to hydrology-led technical work across projects that influence flood resilience, drainage strategy, and environmental protection. Your assessments and reporting will support planning decisions, regulatory compliance, and sustainable water management outcomes.
- Carry out hydrological studies, including flood risk assessments, drainage impact assessments, and surface water evaluations.
- Gather, review, and interpret hydrological and meteorological datasets.
- Prepare technical documentation and environmental submissions, including inputs for EIAR and other regulatory reports.
- Support scoping, planning, and programme development for projects.
- Work closely with engineers, environmental specialists, and planning professionals in multidisciplinary teams.
What you should bring
The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with surface water analysis, flood risk work, and environmental reporting in an Irish regulatory context. You should be comfortable producing clear technical outputs and working across multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Background in hydrology or a closely related discipline.
