Job overview

The Room Attendant plays an important part in the hotel team by keeping guest accommodations, shared spaces, and other assigned areas clean, organized, and comfortable. This role helps create a welcoming environment and supports a high-quality guest experience.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare guest rooms to brand and property standards by dusting, vacuuming, replacing linens, and making beds.
• Clean and disinfect bathrooms, including fixtures, surfaces, and amenities.
• Wipe down furniture, surfaces, and decorative items in rooms and public areas.
• Replenish room supplies such as towels, toiletries, and linens.
• Remove waste from guest rooms and common areas and replace liners as needed.
• Maintain floors in rooms, corridors, and public spaces by sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming.
• Spot any maintenance or repair concerns and communicate them to the right team member.
• Watch for misplaced guest belongings in rooms and public areas and escalate them to a supervisor.
• Handle guest questions and requests in a polite, professional manner.
• Protect guest privacy and follow established safety and security procedures at all times.

Skills and abilities

• Prior housekeeping or similar hospitality experience is beneficial.
• Strong attention to detail and a solid understanding of cleaning methods, chemicals, and equipment.
• Ability to work alone, manage assigned rooms efficiently, and keep housekeeping carts and supplies organized.
• Clear communication skills for dealing with guests and coworkers.
• Basic knowledge of sanitation and workplace safety practices.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays when required.

Working conditions and physical demands

This position involves substantial physical activity, including long periods of standing and walking, as well as climbing, bending, reaching, pulling, pushing, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Work may take place in indoor hotel settings with machinery and equipment. The role may also involve exposure to extreme temperatures, cleaning chemicals, dirt, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noise. Because of the associated physical risks, basic safety precautions and required protective equipment must be followed.
