Role overview

Health Match BC is recruiting a Hospitalist to join Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake, British Columbia. This is a strong fit for physicians who value team-based care, quality improvement, and practicing in a welcoming community with an active lifestyle.

What you will do

In this role, you will provide care in the acute inpatient medicine service and act as the most responsible physician for patients with complex medical needs. The position also includes co-management of surgical patients and support for palliative care. You will work alongside CMH specialists and family physicians, with strong hospital-wide support.

The standard schedule is 8 hours per day, with an average of 12 to 16 inpatients managed per shift.

The hospitalist program is designed to meet the varied and complex medical needs of patients while encouraging close collaboration across specialties. Both newly graduated and experienced hospitalists are encouraged to apply.

Flexibility and additional opportunities

Part-time hospitalist work and locum opportunities are also welcomed for candidates who prefer flexible arrangements. Leadership development opportunities may be available through Interior Health’s NAVIG8 Program.

Compensation

This position is offered as a clinical service contract. For a full-time hospitalist, the expected base income is $336,168 annually, or $200.10 per hour. Additional earnings of up to 40% may be available through group contract incentives. MOCAP level 2 and after-hours premiums are also included. There is no physician overhead.

Benefits and incentives

Eligible candidates may receive additional remuneration under the Rural Subsidiary Agreement, which may include:

• Retention premium of 12.32%
• Retention flat fee of $19,092
• Relocation support between $9,000 and $15,000
• Recruitment incentive of $15,000 for a 1.0 FTE position

Rural incentives can change, and the applicable rates are confirmed when an offer is made. Physicians with BC or Canada student loans may also qualify for loan forgiveness programs when living and working in a rural community.
