General Assistant (Cleaning Team)

Role Overview

As a General Assistant in the cleaning team, you will help maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across the facility. Your work will ensure gym areas feel fresh, safe, and welcoming for every member.

This position is scheduled for 20 hours each week and is well suited to someone who is dependable, detail-focused, and committed to improving the member experience.

Key Duties

• Clean all parts of the gym thoroughly, including floors, equipment, studios, changing areas, showers, and shared spaces.
• Disinfect and sanitise surfaces to support a hygienic and safe environment.
• Remove waste, replace bin liners, and follow the correct disposal process.
• Keep track of cleaning materials and restock them, while informing management when supplies run low.
• Work cooperatively with the wider gym team to help deliver a smooth experience for members.
• Flag maintenance or repair issues as soon as they are noticed.
• Consistently maintain the company’s cleanliness and safety expectations.

What We’re Looking For

Prior cleaning or janitorial experience is helpful, though not required because training will be provided. You should be comfortable working on your own, have a strong eye for detail, and be able to manage your time well. A basic understanding of cleaning methods, sanitation, and safe chemical use is an advantage, with training available where needed. Good communication and the ability to work well in a team are important. The role also requires flexibility to work evenings and weekends according to gym opening times.
