Field Technician

Opportunity

Fortescue is inviting expressions of interest from experienced Field Technicians to join its Resource Definition teams. The work is based across Pilbara sites, with a FIFO roster from Perth of 8 days on and 6 days off.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out escorts within the AOZ.
• Operate in line with Fortescue procedures and all relevant legal and statutory requirements.
• Assist Resource Definition Geologists and Earthworks teams with assigned tasks and day-to-day support.
• Review laboratory returns, identify discrepancies, and help resolve reconciliation issues.
• Send samples to the laboratory.
• Work toward agreed performance measures and KPIs.
• Accurately log sample bag numbers and record them in the database.
• Suggest practical improvements to work processes and raise them with the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

• Prior experience in a comparable open-pit mining position is an advantage.
• A current manual C class driver’s licence is required.
• Forklift licence is desirable.
• You should be proactive, highly driven, eager to learn, and prepared to handle physically demanding work and new challenges.
• A collaborative team mindset with a strong can-do attitude is important.
• Good written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to build effective relationships across different departments, are needed.
• Comfort using Microsoft Office tools such as Outlook, Excel, and Word at a basic to intermediate level.
• Strong attention to detail is essential.
