Role overview
We are partnering with a well-regarded construction contractor that delivers restoration, refurbishment, and new build work across the South West. They are looking for an Estimator to join the Exeter team and produce precise, competitive pricing for projects in the £300k to £5m range. The role also involves supporting tender activity and working alongside senior leaders and delivery teams to help grow the business.
Key responsibilities
- Build detailed project costings and budgets covering materials, labour, plant, and subcontractor elements.
- Review tender packs and drawings to spot risks, opportunities, and the full scope of work.
- Work with project teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to develop accurate pricing.
- Assist with bid submissions, value engineering exercises, and contract discussions.
- Keep estimating records and cost databases current and well organised.
Experience and qualifications
The client is seeking someone with proven experience in construction estimating, ideally with refurbishment or new build exposure. You should understand construction methods, cost planning, and tender processes, and have hands-on experience pricing work in the £300k to £5m bracket. Strong Excel ability, confidence with estimating software, and excellent numerical, analytical, organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
Package and benefits
- Salary of up to £75,000 per year.
