Role overview

Evergreen School is looking for an Estates Assistant (Caretaker) to support the running of its two purpose-built campuses in Warwick. The school is a specialist setting with more than 280 children and young people aged 4 to 19, and this is a great time to join as the organisation continues to grow and improve its curriculum and facilities.

The role reports to the Deputy Estates Manager and focuses on helping keep the school environment safe, clean, secure, and fully suitable for pupils, staff, visitors, and users of the premises, grounds, and equipment. The successful candidate should be adaptable, approachable, and take pride in contributing to the school community.

Working pattern and contract

This is a year-round position and can be offered on a full-time or part-time basis. The post will involve early or late shifts, with the exact pattern discussed at interview. The school requires the successful applicant to start as soon as possible.

Main duties

Core responsibilities include securing the site by locking and unlocking buildings and entrances across the campus, carrying out routine compliance checks and audits, and responding to both planned and reactive maintenance needs. During non-term time, the role will also involve minor project work.

A key part of the job is the day-to-day upkeep of the hydro swimming pools and associated plant. Full training will be provided for this aspect of the work. A flexible approach to working hours and shift patterns is essential.

Safeguarding and pre-employment checks

Evergreen School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and all staff and volunteers are expected to share that commitment. This role requires an enhanced DBS check, including a child barred list check. References and online screening will be completed at the shortlisting stage.

What the school offers

The successful candidate will join a school community that values Trust, Honesty, and Support. The school also provides opportunities for professional growth, support from a committed leadership team, membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), access to free healthcare support and occupational health, staff discounts, a Cycle to Work scheme, and family-friendly policies with flexible working arrangements.

Application information

Applications should be submitted using the school application form and emailed to the recruitment address provided by the employer. Applicants are asked to use the person specification when completing the form. If needed, a paper copy of the form can be requested by email or by calling the school office. A CV will not be accepted.

Important dates

Closing date for applications: 9:00am on Friday 10 July 2026. Interview date: Friday 17 July 2026.

Salary

The salary range is £25,583 to £25,989 per year, with an hourly rate of £13.26.
