Overview
Dymocks Retail is a well-known Australian retail business with more than 40 locally owned stores nationwide. As the country’s largest bookselling network, the company focuses on delivering a strong customer experience through a broad range of books, gifts, and stationery.
This opening is for an Ecommerce Specialist to join the ecommerce function. The role is centered on lifting online revenue by planning and delivering trade, merchandising, and optimisation initiatives. It blends commercial responsibility with technical capability and requires close partnership with Marketing, Buying, and Technology teams.
Trade and Merchandising
- Build and deliver the online trade calendar in line with campaign and commercial priorities.
- Shape onsite merchandising across navigation, category pages, and landing pages.
- Improve product discovery, product detail pages, and customer journeys to strengthen conversion performance.
Commercial Performance
- Take ownership of weekly and monthly reporting, turning data into practical insights and next steps.
- Track results against targets and highlight risks as well as opportunities.
- Support improvement in key business measures such as conversion, average order value, and revenue.
Platform and Technical Delivery
- Serve as the daily subject matter expert for the ecommerce platform, Adobe Commerce / Magento.
- Help improve technical SEO to enhance site visibility and overall performance.
- Convert business needs into clear briefs and requirements for developers.
- Oversee site health and stability, including issue identification, prioritisation, and user acceptance testing with developers.
Catalogue and Performance Channels
- Handle product feeds and catalogue prioritisation for performance channels such as Google Shopping.
- Partner with the Data Manager, Merchandise team, and Marketing team to maintain product data quality, structure, and availability in line with trade priorities.
Team Leadership and Execution
- Guide and develop the Ecommerce Coordinator to strengthen capability and maintain high-quality delivery.
- Create and maintain clear processes and documentation for ecommerce operations.
Skills and Experience
- At least 3 years of ecommerce experience.
- Experience working with ecommerce platforms; Adobe Commerce is considered an advantage.
- Proven ability to improve online performance, including conversion, AOV, and revenue growth.
- Strong analytical skills, with GA4 or customer data experience viewed favorably.
- Experience collaborating with developers to deliver technical solutions.
- Sound knowledge of ecommerce best practices in merchandising, UX, and customer journey optimisation.
- Understanding of SEO fundamentals.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- A proactive, solutions-oriented approach with close attention to detail.
