Main purpose
We are seeking a commercially strong Dry Freight Charterer with 3–5 years of relevant experience to join the freight function in Singapore. The position is centred on procuring tonnage in the Supramax segment across major Asian markets. The selected person will secure time-chartered vessels to support cargo programmes and will build durable relationships with shipowners, operators, and brokers throughout the region.
Key responsibilities
- Identify and secure Supramax time charter vessels across Asia to satisfy internal cargo requirements and trading plans.
- Build, maintain, and strengthen commercial relationships with regional shipowners, operators, and brokers.
- Negotiate attractive charter terms while staying aligned with operational, commercial, and risk parameters.
- Track market movements, freight indices, and vessel supply to deliver timely and accurate market intelligence.
- Partner with cargo desks, operations, and the deals/risk team to improve fleet performance and commercial results.
- Keep market coverage current and issue regular updates on freight opportunities and associated risks.
- Contribute to strategic initiatives and support the organisation’s long-term chartering direction.
Required qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in dry freight chartering, ideally with exposure to Supramax or Handysize shipping.
- Demonstrated success in time chartering and tonnage procurement.
- Experience gained with a shipowner, operator, commodity trading house, or freight brokerage, with strong market standing.
- Strong knowledge of the Asia dry bulk market.
- An established network of shipowners and operators across the region.
- Excellent spoken and written English.

Department overview
The Freight team is part of the commercial operations structure and contributes to the trade lifecycle by arranging and managing vessel tonnage for cargo programmes worldwide. This role reports to the Head of Geared Freight Trading and works closely with cargo desks, operations, and the deals/risk team to enhance fleet performance and commercial outcomes.
