Role overview
Balfour Beatty Asset & Technology Solutions is hiring a practical and dependable Driver / Storesperson for its Thurnscoe base. The position is broad and hands-on, helping operational teams across the UK by keeping equipment, materials and plant moving, organised and available when needed.
You will work primarily from the Thurnscoe depot and travel to project sites when needed. The role is central to smooth day-to-day operations, with responsibility for stock control, depot support, plant and equipment coordination, and service to internal teams.

Key duties
- Oversee and manage stock, plant and equipment within the depot and stores area.
- Arrange the movement of materials, tools and equipment to and from project locations throughout the UK.
- Carry out safe and efficient loading and unloading of deliveries.
- Inspect incoming goods for correctness, condition and any damage, and raise supplier issues where necessary.
- Assist with the hiring, receiving and returning of plant and equipment.
- Keep stock records up to date and support routine inventory checks.
- Help with the calibration and general control of tools and equipment.
- Maintain a tidy, safe and functional yard, stores and workshop environment.
- Ensure operational teams have the materials and equipment they need to work effectively.
- Follow all health, safety, environmental and company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with depot, logistics, workshop and operational colleagues to support project delivery.

Essential requirements
- A full UK driving licence.
- Experience in a stores, logistics, warehouse, depot or operational support role.
- Strong ability to organise work and manage stock effectively.
- Confidence working alone as well as as part of a wider team.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Careful attention to detail and a strong focus on accurate record keeping.
- A positive, adaptable attitude and willingness to help with operational needs.
- Awareness of health, safety and compliance expectations in an operational setting.
Desirable experience
- Background working with plant, tools or specialist equipment.
- Understanding of equipment hire processes and plant movement/logistics.
- Experience supporting construction, infrastructure, highways or engineering work.
