Role overview
An established engineering firm working on essential infrastructure across Ireland and the UK is hiring a motivated Design Engineer to join its expanding team in Dublin. The role sits in a technically strong environment and offers the chance to contribute to complex electrical infrastructure and power projects alongside an experienced, collaborative group.
What you will do
- Design high-voltage and low-voltage substations.
- Develop medium-voltage and high-voltage distribution systems.
- Create control and protection circuit designs for medium-voltage switchgear.
- Support generator-related work and wider power infrastructure projects.
- Prepare control/protection schematics and physical layout drawings.
- Interpret electrical systems and project specifications accurately.
- Handle engineering change orders and contribute to product enhancements.
- Coordinate with suppliers on specifications and component selection.
- Assist projects from the design stage through commissioning.
- Produce technical documentation that meets relevant industry standards.
Candidate profile
The employer is seeking someone with a solid background in electrical power engineering who is actively engaged in substation or power systems design. A hands-on approach and experience in technically demanding electrical projects are important for success in this role.
Experience and background
- At least 5 years of experience in electrical design engineering.
- Direct experience with substation design or MV/HV electrical systems.
