Data Center Logistics Technician

Role overview

Microsoft is hiring a Data Center Inventory & Asset Technician (DIAT) to support logistics and inventory activities in its cloud data center operations in Abu Dhabi. In this role, you will handle cycle audits, manage incoming and outgoing shipments, arrange security escorts for external vendors, and keep accurate records of deliveries. The position is designed to strengthen your understanding of inventory control, warranty handling, and the secure destruction of data-bearing devices while building your career in a fast-moving operations environment.

The role sits within Cloud Operations & Innovation (CO+I), the team that runs the infrastructure behind Microsoft’s online services such as Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and Azure. What you will do

• Carry out assigned work and raise issues promptly when workloads are heavy or situations require escalation.
• Work with suppliers on warranty claims and manage failed vendor hardware, including processing information, packing, shipping, and receiving returned merchandise authorization (RMA) items in line with service-level commitments.
• Use your knowledge of processes and sound judgment to complete tasks with limited supervision.
• Keep a clear understanding of how your work affects ticket completion and inventory and asset management activities.
• Maintain accurate and current information in inventory systems such as configuration management databases and asset repositories.
• Track and stage physical inventory carefully and in detail.
• Identify and report inventory mismatches and help resolve discrepancies.
• Destroy data-bearing devices according to service-level agreements and Microsoft policies when required.
• Inform management about low stock or ordering shortages and escalate concerns as needed.
• Follow all security and data-handling requirements.
• Act in line with Microsoft’s culture and values.

What Microsoft is looking for

• A high school diploma plus experience in warehouse, supply chain, inventory management, retail, warehouse operations, or another related field within an IT environment.
• Alternatively, an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening standards for the role.
• Successful completion of the Microsoft Cloud background check at hiring or transfer, and again every two years afterward.
• Preferred: background in warehouse, supply chain, IT, or logistics work in an IT setting.
• Preferred: experience operating heavy-load movement equipment such as forklifts, pallet jacks, or chassis lifts in a large organization.
• Equivalent experience may be considered for preferred qualifications.
