Role Overview

The Controller will oversee the company’s finance function with an emphasis on precision, openness, and close collaboration with operations. Financial Reporting and Month-End Close

• Take full ownership of the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing cycle, ensuring both speed and accuracy.
• Prepare dependable financial statements, including the profit and loss statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Carefully review journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals with a strong focus on accuracy and accountability.

Manufacturing Cost Accounting and Operations Support

• Direct standard costing, variance reviews, and cost roll-up activities across the business.
• Track and interpret labor efficiency, material consumption, scrap levels, and overhead absorption.
• Oversee inventory valuation, internal controls, and cycle count procedures to ensure accuracy.
• Work closely with plant and operations leaders to improve profitability, control costs, and increase visibility into performance.

Internal Controls and Compliance

• Develop, implement, and continuously refine internal control systems.
• Ensure adherence to regulatory obligations, tax rules, and audit requirements.
• Lead internal and external audits with the goal of preventing any material weaknesses.

Cash Flow and Working Capital

• Actively manage cash flow along with AR, AP, inventory, and fixed assets.
• Improve working capital performance, including DSO, DPO, and inventory turns.

Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor, and grow the accounting team across AP, AR, GL, and payroll.

Systems, Data, and Process Improvement

• Own and improve ERP systems, including Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and any future platforms.

• Support system rollouts and integrations that improve scale and efficiency.

Required Background

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is preferred; Finance or a related field is also acceptable.
• CPA is strongly preferred.
• MBA is considered an added advantage.
• At least 10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance.
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Controller or Assistant Controller.
• Manufacturing experience is required.
• Experience in a private equity-backed company is strongly preferred.
• Background in multi-entity or multi-site operations.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and revenue recognition.
• Extensive experience in cost accounting, standard costing, and inventory controls.
• Proven track record of producing accurate financial statements and maintaining internal controls.
• Strong FP&A capability, including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
• Ability to lead and develop teams of 5–15+ employees.
• Effective cross-functional leadership with operations, supply chain, and executive stakeholders.
• Deep understanding of manufacturing operations and the cost factors that drive results.
• Ability to convert financial performance into practical business recommendations.
