This role partners closely with the Basketball Systems Developer to turn data, SQL output, and design ideas into polished web experiences using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. The emphasis is on the front end: building reports and interface components, correcting defects, improving page layouts, and making sure the site works smoothly across different devices and browsers.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the creation and upkeep of web pages with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python.
- Convert SQL output and design concepts into responsive, visually clean front-end elements.
- Diagnose and fix issues related to site behavior, layout, and visual presentation.
- Apply enhancements and revisions to existing front-end code in response to feedback and changing needs.
- Test functionality to verify performance and compatibility across browsers and screen sizes.
- Help ensure data moves accurately and quickly between the database and the website.
- Collaborate with the Basketball Systems Developer and other teammates to present data correctly and efficiently, including some support for data engineering and back-end design.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, web development, information systems, engineering, or a closely related discipline.
- About 1 to 3 years of relevant front-end experience; internships or personal projects are also considered valuable.
- A solid working understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Exposure to Vue.js, or a willingness to learn it; familiarity with front-end frameworks is a plus.
- Comfort using Bootstrap, or readiness to learn it for responsive layouts and prebuilt UI components.
- Working knowledge of Python and some familiarity with SQL for connecting front-end work with back-end services.
- Awareness of data engineering concepts such as ETL and idempotency.
- Experience using Git for version control.
- Strong communication skills for working with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Clear written and verbal communication abilities.
- A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for learning new tools, technologies, and frameworks.
Additional Requirements
The successful candidate should be a strong problem solver who can identify issues early, work effectively with internal and external stakeholders, and deliver projects accurately, on time, and with professionalism. The role calls for someone who can adjust to changing project needs, collaborate to refine requirements, and keep learning to improve development workflows.
Physical and Work Environment
In this role, the employee will regularly sit, stand, walk, use a computer and telephone, speak, hear, and write. The office environment is generally moderate in noise, while the Fieldhouse/game environment can be loud. Work stress may rise at certain times of the year. Reasonable accommodations may be provided for individuals with disabilities.
