Barista

Role overview

Aramark Canada is seeking full-time Baristas in Ottawa, Ontario for a lively, customer-facing environment with room to grow. In this role, you will craft specialty beverages, support light food prep, take and process orders, and handle payments while creating a positive experience for every guest.

Key responsibilities

• Process purchases accurately using a register or POS system and manage cash and card transactions.
• Welcome guests, assist them promptly, and stay attentive to their needs.
• Make and serve coffee, tea, and other specialty drinks in line with brand guidelines.
• Prepare and serve food items according to location standards.
• Count, organize, and reconcile cash drawers, complete cashier paperwork, and handle deposits.
• Follow company cash management policies and procedures.
• Set up, close down, and clean coffee stations, bars, and store areas, including sanitizing surfaces and equipment.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and sanitary at all times.
• Replenish beverage coolers, grab-and-go products, service items, and condiments.
• Comply with all health, safety, and sanitation requirements for products and work areas.
• Carry out other tasks as needed by management.

Qualifications and experience

• Prior customer service experience is preferred.
• Experience handling cash is preferred.
• Previous barista experience is an asset.
• Basic math and counting ability is required.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Must follow the required dress code.
• Ability to read and communicate in English and follow recipes.
• Food Handling Certification must be completed as required.
• The role includes physical activity such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, prolonged walking, and standing.
• Uniforms and/or personal protective equipment may be required.
