Role Summary

This role focuses on delivering performance reporting and helping modernize older systems through the use of emerging technologies. The associate business analyst will prepare analysis, reports, and management presentations to support the organization’s decision-making.

The work includes reviewing quality, evaluating workflows, improving processes, and building routine business reports as well as other function-specific analyses. The position also involves studying historical and current trends in key performance indicators across revenue, cost of sales, expenses, lead times, and production metrics, while tracking performance, identifying unusual variances, and investigating the reasons behind them. In addition, the role supports market, competitive, and strategic analysis for the lubricants business.

This position contributes to business process improvement and automation by carefully examining, analyzing, documenting, and reviewing parts of the lubricants function. It also supports requirements development by helping gather, analyze, specify, and verify requirements from enterprise, stakeholder, and IT perspectives.

This is an on-site role at CITGO’s corporate headquarters in Houston, Texas. It is not a remote position.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree is required.
  • A degree in business management or a technical discipline is preferred.
  • Strong interest in new technologies and trends, with the ability to connect concepts to practical business use.
  • Prior exposure to Microsoft Power Platform, especially Power BI, is highly preferred.
  • No prior job-related experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare reporting for the lubricants team, including KPI tracking, performance analysis, and budget benchmarking.
  • Compare performance against competitors and industry leaders to measure progress against the organization’s goals.
  • Review business units to find improvement opportunities and work with process owners on technology-driven enhancements.
  • Help build value propositions for process and technology improvements.
  • Study data trends, watch KPI movement, and investigate unusual patterns before presenting findings to managers.
  • Support planning for next-generation technology by defining its value, use cases, and benefits to users and the industry.
  • Create and maintain dashboards, alerts, and recurring or ad hoc reports.
  • Analyze business processes and requirements, and contribute to business case development for process changes.
  • Research business challenges and build models that help explain and solve them.
  • Coordinate metrics with other teams to ensure alignment, consistency, and accuracy.
