Assistant Manager

Role overview

In this position, you will help lead the store team and shape the customer experience on the shop floor. The role combines team coaching, operational oversight, training, employee support, visual presentation, and protection of store assets. When the Store Manager is away, you will take charge of all management responsibilities. Success in the role is measured by how effectively you help the store grow sales and hit profit targets.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and encourage the team so they can boost sales while delivering excellent service.
• Keep customer satisfaction high by staying well informed about the full product range and coordinating with colleagues to support smooth selling.
• Meet expectations for sales performance, customer experience, merchandising, store presentation, and day-to-day operations.
• Serve as a link between customers, sales associates, and store leadership.
• Build product knowledge and stay current on trends so you can match offerings to customer needs.
• Maintain strong awareness of product details as well as current and upcoming items and trends.
• Help create a workplace that is positive, collaborative, and inclusive.

Qualifications and expectations

• Proven leadership skills, with at least 1 year of experience in a customer-facing sales environment.
• Comfortable engaging customers and creating a better-than-average service experience.
• Driven by results and motivated by working with customers and athletic products.
• Able to adapt quickly in a fast-moving omni-channel retail setting and respond well to changing priorities.
• Capable of starting and completing tasks independently, without close supervision.
• Strong analytical and numerical ability, including problem-solving, decision-making, and financial analysis.
• High standards of ethics, integrity, trust, and professional conduct.
• Availability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
