Under the Japfa BEST brand, it sells fresh chicken, eggs, mutton, and an expanding portfolio of ready-to-cook, ready-to-eat, and value-added protein items, with quick commerce serving as the main growth channel.
Role Summary
The Assistant General Manager for Go Direct Consumer Business will own and grow Japfa Food’s quick commerce-led consumer business. The position carries full responsibility for growth, profitability, category expansion, and operational execution. The ideal leader will be able to scale raw and further-processed protein categories on quick commerce platforms while working closely on economics, supply readiness, and platform partnerships. A major part of the role is to launch, scale, and institutionalize value-added protein products, shifting the business beyond raw meat into higher-margin convenience offerings.
Key Responsibilities
- Take complete ownership of the P&L for the Go Direct Consumer / Quick Commerce business.
- Expand Japfa BEST across quick commerce channels through city launches, dark-store growth, and broader assortment coverage.
- Create and execute a roadmap for further processed and value-added protein products, including RTC, RTE, marinades, and convenience cuts.
- Shape category and assortment strategy across raw, semi-processed, and fully processed offerings.
- Manage demand planning, stock health, and production coordination with supply chain and plant teams.
- Drive platform-led marketing, promotional planning, visibility levers, and return-on-investment discipline.
- Build and guide a high-performing cross-functional team spanning growth, category, and operations.
Candidate Profile
- 7 to 15 years of experience in quick commerce, FMCG, food, or fast-growing consumer startups.
- Demonstrated success in scaling categories on platforms such as Blinkit, Zepto, Swiggy Instamart, or BB Now.
- Prior exposure to further processed or value-added food products is preferred.
- Solid understanding of quick commerce unit economics, dark-store operations, and margin management.
- Hands-on operator with P&L ownership and strong cross-functional leadership skills.
Eligibility
Applicants should hold a B.Sc in Food Technology or a Diploma in Food Technology.
