Bengaluru Airport Services Limited is a fully owned company of Bangalore International Airport Limited. The organization focuses on premium airport hospitality across India and operates Domestic and International Lounges at Bangalore International Airport. It also delivers selected passenger services designed to improve the overall journey with comfort, convenience, and a high-touch experience.
Role Overview
The Assistant General Manager - Commercial will guide BASL’s commercial agenda and be responsible for driving profitable growth across the business. This role covers strategy, revenue expansion, partnerships, pricing, contract negotiations, and business development across current and future verticals such as 080 Lounges, Transit Hotel, Passenger Services, Ovetra Lounges, Food & Beverage, and other upcoming ventures.
The position carries ownership of end-to-end commercial performance, including revenue, margins, and overall P&L outcomes, while working closely with internal teams and external partners to create strong commercial results and customer-focused solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead commercial planning and execute long-term strategies aligned with company goals.
Build annual commercial plans, budgets, and growth roadmaps for existing and new business lines.
Spot new market opportunities in aviation, airport hospitality, travel, retail, and passenger services.
Drive business expansion through client acquisition, partnerships, concessions, RFPs, tenders, and strategic bids.
Evaluate feasibility, investment potential, and business viability for new initiatives.
Take ownership of P&L for assigned verticals and improve revenue while protecting profitability.
Develop pricing and revenue-enhancement approaches for lounges, transit hotels, passenger services, and F&B operations.
Track commercial KPIs, review performance reports, and implement corrective actions when needed.
Work with Finance on forecasting, budgeting, pricing, and profitability optimization.
Manage relationships with airport operators, airlines, financial institutions, travel firms, corporates, government bodies, and concession partners.
Negotiate high-value commercial agreements and support long-term client retention through strong account management.
Represent BASL at conferences, industry events, networking forums, and business meetings.
Oversee the performance of all commercial business verticals and ensure timely execution of initiatives and projects.
Collaborate with Operations to improve customer experience and commercial outcomes.
Monitor market trends, airport developments, customer behavior, and competitor actions to identify growth opportunities.
Conduct market research, benchmark performance, and recommend innovative offerings and pricing models.
Lead the commercial team, mentor professionals, and promote collaboration across Finance, Operations, Marketing, Procurement, Projects, Legal, and HR.
Ensure compliance with contracts, regulations, organizational policies, approvals, and governance standards.
Assess commercial risks and put mitigation measures in place.
Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hospitality Management, or a related field is required.
An MBA in Marketing, Business Management, Strategy, or Finance is preferred.
The ideal candidate should bring 15 to 18 years of progressive experience in Commercial, Business Development, Sales, Revenue Management, or Strategic Partnerships.
At least 7 years of leadership experience in managing commercial functions is expected.
Exposure to Airport Hospitality, Airport Lounges, Airlines, Airport Operators, Passenger Services, Hotels, Travel, or the broader Hospitality sector is highly desirable.
Strong results in P&L ownership, business expansion, commercial negotiations, and strategic partnerships are important.
Experience in winning large corporate accounts, institutional clients, or major partnership deals will be a strong advantage.
