Role overview

The Public Defence Service in New Zealand is seeking an experienced Application Support Analyst to help deliver and maintain important digital solutions as part of a growing digital services team. This role focuses on supporting key strategic platforms used across the Ministry, with a strong emphasis on Microsoft technologies such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.

In this position, you will collaborate with IT specialists and business stakeholders across the Ministry to resolve incidents, analyse issues, and gather information that helps identify defects and problem records. What you'll do

  • Support users so they can get the most out of SharePoint, Microsoft 365 applications, and Azure DevOps.
  • Handle service requests and provide clear guidance or information to help bring issues to resolution.
  • Work with business users to investigate incidents, identify defects, and maintain accurate problem records.
  • Contribute to application support processes, including collecting performance statistics and preparing reports.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across IT and business groups to support digital services.
  • Help maintain knowledge of internal processes and procedures that support Justice services.

What we're looking for

  • Experience supporting users with SharePoint, M365 apps, and Azure DevOps.
  • Desirable background in building SharePoint solutions and/or using PowerShell.
  • Willingness to learn more advanced Microsoft 365 tools such as Purview or Power Platform.
  • Ability to manage application support workflows, gather metrics, and create reports.
  • Understanding of information management best practice, or interest in developing that knowledge.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning and applying new product knowledge.
