Role overview
This position is focused on building and steering the strategy for a non-food product category. The role involves identifying new opportunities within the category, strengthening supplier relationships, and driving sales performance against agreed targets.
Core responsibilities
- Study market and customer data to spot trends in the industry and among consumers.
- Find, assess, and build long-term partnerships with direct distributors and sellers.
- Continuously search for new suppliers aligned with the category strategy.
- Support the creation of annual budgets, sales targets, and profit plans for the category.
- Manage pricing decisions and ensure category margins are maintained.
- Track product and category performance and take action to improve results.
- Define long-term growth plans for assigned product categories.
- Plan exit strategies for products that are underperforming.
- Develop strong, trust-based vendor relationships to secure better pricing and service quality.
- Position the category effectively to increase visibility and market impact.
- Monitor pricing movements and competitor activity.
- Work closely with buyers and merchandisers to grow and broaden the category assortment.
- Take ownership of category budget planning and revenue outcomes.
Experience and education
Candidates should bring at least 5 years of experience as a buyer or category manager in the grocery sector, specifically in non-food categories. A bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or a comparable field is required.

This role is based in Doha, Qatar and is a full-time onsite position.
