Role overview
This part-time opportunity runs for 3 days a week and is suited to a wellbeing professional who can support participants in the Workforce Australia Services employment program. The role involves delivering tailored assessments, including mental health assessments, along with psychological interventions and counselling. The position is based in Parramatta, New South Wales, with remote work supporting clients across Sydney’s Western Suburbs.
Key duties
- Provide telehealth or video-based counselling support to remote participants.
- Offer vocational guidance, practical skills development, goal setting, and problem-solving support.
- Participate in case conferences with internal teams to support continuity of care.
- Coordinate advocacy and referrals to appropriate external support services.
- Assist with arranging job capacity assessments for job seekers dealing with Centrelink requirements.
- Deliver telephone-based crisis support and post-placement assistance for clients whose employment may be at risk.
Candidate profile
The ideal applicant has a relevant allied health qualification such as Psychology, Social Work, or Counselling, together with current and ongoing registration or membership with the appropriate body, such as AHPRA, AASW, ACA, or PACFA. Experience should cover a broad range of client needs, including mental health, psychosocial concerns, drug and alcohol issues, personal development, anger management, and vocational assessment. Confidence in both face-to-face and telehealth delivery is important, along with familiarity with evidence-based approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal therapy, solution-focused therapy, and motivational interviewing. Strong written and verbal communication is needed for case notes and reporting, as well as the ability to work independently, manage a caseload, organise appointments, and collaborate within a diverse team serving people aged 15 to 65.
Mandatory checks and setup
A valid Police Check and Working with Children Check must be provided before starting. The successful candidate also needs to set up a myGovID to access government data relevant to the role.
