About the role
Join Tauranga City Council’s waste services team and provide straightforward, practical support to the community. In this position, you will be the main point of contact for waste-related enquiries, helping residents understand what is required and where to go for assistance.
You will rely on strong customer service abilities, confidence working with systems, and a practical mindset to help waste services operate effectively. The role also involves passing on customer feedback to improve processes, contractor delivery, and waste outcomes across Tauranga.
Key responsibilities
- Offer clear guidance on waste services, including the applicable rules, procedures, and policies.
- Handle customer questions and service requests, such as kerbside collection updates and invoice-related queries.
- Coordinate with contractors and internal teams to support timely service delivery.
- Maintain accurate, user-friendly information across knowledge systems, processes, and digital channels.
- Share customer feedback to support contract oversight, performance discussions, and service enhancements.
- Look for practical ways to simplify processes for both customers and colleagues, then help put those improvements in place.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Experience in waste services, customer support, administration, or a comparable role, or a relevant qualification.
- Substantial experience working with complex systems or databases to manage information.
- Well-developed communication skills and the ability to explain information clearly to different audiences.
- Proven ability to juggle competing priorities in a busy environment.
- Confidence in building effective working relationships with customers, contractors, and internal teams.
- A proactive attitude and a genuine interest in improving how work is done.
