Role overview
ATN Health is hiring a remote Medical Assistant to support patient coordination and administrative workflows. The position is based in Orlando, Florida, and centers on customer service, pre-visit charting calls, and helping prepare patients for in-clinic appointments. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working independently, communicating clearly, and handling fast-paced healthcare support tasks while protecting confidentiality and following regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED is required.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant training program and a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential are required at the time of joining.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in healthcare as a certified or registered medical assistant is needed.
- 1 to 2 years of experience using EMR/EHR platforms, preferably Epic, is required.
- At least 6 months of call center experience is preferred.
- 1 to 2 years of experience in case management or care coordination is preferred.
- A minimum of 1 year of computer-based work experience involving data entry and review of patient demographic information is required.
- Working knowledge of ambulatory care or a related healthcare setting is expected.
- Strong comfort with computers and healthcare technology tools is important.
- Excellent customer service and polite, professional communication skills are needed.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, prioritization, independence, and problem-solving ability are essential.
Responsibilities
- Reach out to patients before visits to collect relevant medical and social details needed for pre-appointment preparation.
- Record patient conversations and information accurately in the electronic medical record system.
- Verify visit reasons, medication details, social factors affecting health, and any care gaps that need attention.
- Work with providers and clinical staff to support an efficient rooming process for on-site appointments.
- Complete roughly 30 to 50 patient calls per day, targeting 12 to 16 completed interactions.
- Guide and support patients through their care experience with clear and helpful communication.
- Protect patient privacy, safety, and confidentiality in line with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Answer patient questions quickly and professionally while showing empathy and engagement.
- Collaborate with teammates to keep patient documentation accurate and care delivery running smoothly.
- Use multiple EMR/EHR systems to enter and review patient information correctly.
- Perform health and social assessments to identify risks and determine suitable next steps.
