About the Role

Animal Welfare League Queensland is seeking an experienced Veterinary Nurse to join its Gold Coast Community Veterinary Clinic in Coombabah. This is a permanent part-time opportunity for 19 hours per week across 2 days. The position sits within a not-for-profit organisation and is paid at the Animal Care & Veterinary Services Award rate starting from $31.60.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist veterinarians during routine consultations and examinations.

  • Carry out nursing duties such as radiography assistance, surgical support, anaesthesia monitoring, IV placement, post-operative care, and preparation of medications.
  • Support both in-house and external pathology processes.
  • Care for hospitalised animals, track their clinical condition, and keep owners updated as appropriate.
  • Show understanding, empathy, and awareness of community animal health and welfare issues.

What You Need

  • Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • At least 3 years of experience in veterinary nursing within a fast-paced clinic.
  • Confidence working independently with anaesthetic monitoring, IV placement, and general nursing duties.
  • Strong animal handling ability.
  • Prior experience in a busy, high-pressure workplace.
  • Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in a shelter or rescue setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Smartflow would be a strong advantage.
