Role overview
The Venture Capital Analyst role focuses on spotting, assessing, and backing investment opportunities in startups and fast-growing businesses. It supports investment teams with research, financial analysis, and market intelligence to help guide sound investment decisions.
What you will do
You will study industries, follow market movements, and keep an eye on emerging technologies to find companies with strong growth potential. The role requires assessing business models, competitive strengths, customer traction, and scalability to judge whether an opportunity is attractive for investment.
A major part of the job is financial and valuation work. This includes reviewing financial statements, building models, analysing revenue forecasts, and evaluating key performance indicators to estimate company value and possible returns.
You will also contribute to deal sourcing by tracking startup ecosystems, accelerator programmes, venture markets, and founder networks. This helps build a healthy pipeline of potential investments and supports the initial screening process.
The role includes participation in due diligence, where you will assess leadership teams, operational performance, market opportunities, and associated risks. You will also help prepare investment memorandums, research documents, presentations, and recommendations for senior investment professionals.
Another important responsibility is monitoring portfolio companies. This involves tracking financial results, growth milestones, fundraising activity, and strategic updates, while providing insights that support portfolio management and value creation.
You will work closely with investment teams, founders, advisors, and other stakeholders to support deal execution and portfolio growth. Success in this role depends on strong analytical ability, financial understanding, and commercial judgement.
