Hammond Power Solutions is a worldwide transformer manufacturer based in Guelph, Ontario. Over the last hundred years, the company has become a North American leader in custom dry-type transformer design and manufacturing, supporting demanding electrical power applications across mining, rectifier, drive, traction, wind, solar and other sectors.
The Walkerton manufacturing site is hiring a TPC Winder to help meet production needs.
Role Overview
This position supports production teams such as control, distribution, reactor and potted assembly by supplying transformer coils according to manufacturing demand.
Core Duties
The role involves choosing the correct winding kit based on the schedule or direction from the team lead or supervisor, checking that the required materials are available, setting up the winding equipment, loading the correct wire and program, and ensuring all coils are produced to specification.
Any deviation from the winding specification must be approved in advance by manufacturing engineering. The role also requires running first-off samples to confirm equipment setup, carrying out ratio tests on initial coils and whenever required by the Ratio/Polarity SPI, checking that finished coils meet all drawing and tolerance requirements, and reporting quality concerns through the proper process.
Quality and Compliance
Each coil must match the applicable specifications and drawings. Parts must be verified against the job requirements, and quality issues should be escalated to QA using the correct forms and procedures.
Qualifications
A Grade 12 high school education is required. Training or education in manufacturing or electrical principles would be considered an advantage.
