Role Overview
This position is for a Sushi Chef based in West Bay, Doha, Qatar, within the Food and Beverage & Culinary function. It is a full-time management role in a luxury hospitality setting, and the position is not remote.
Core Duties
- Keep kitchen records up to date to support food safety compliance.
- Track kitchen supplies and food inventory, and monitor stock levels.
- Prepare food presentation with attention to visual appeal, including decorative displays.
- Control food quantities prepared and portion sizes served.
- Set up the workstation before service and dismantle it after service.
- Prep ingredients for cooking by portioning, chopping, and storing them correctly.
- Move frozen items to refrigerator storage so they can thaw safely.
- Measure, weigh, and combine ingredients according to recipes or professional judgment.
- Cook and finish food in line with recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and preparation checklists.
- Check food quality continuously during preparation.
Leadership and Team Support
- Support management with hiring, training, scheduling, assessment, counseling, discipline, and motivation of associates.
- Act as a positive example for the team.
- Help the team work toward shared goals and respond appropriately to coworker concerns.
Standards, Safety, and Guest Service
- Follow company policies as well as all safety and security procedures.
- Report maintenance issues, accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions to the manager.
- Complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a neat, professional uniform and personal appearance.
- Greet and acknowledge guests in line with company service standards.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with others.
- Maintain expected quality standards in all work.
- Carry out other reasonable duties assigned by supervisors.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
- Ability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds without assistance.
Preferred Qualification
A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred. The role requires at least 3 years of related work experience. No supervisory experience is required, and no license or certification is needed.
